Gaden Shartse Phukhang Khangsten

GADEN SHARTSE PHUKHANG KHANGSTEN

Phukhang Khangtsen is one of the largest dormitories or “khangtsen” (Khang= “house” tsen “different) among the 11 khangtsen of the Gaden Shartse Monastery. Each khangtsen provides accommodation to the monks. Each khangtsen has their own administrative body. Elders of the khangtsen are in charge of enforcement of rules and regulations, while a committee of monks look after the financial matters of the khangtsen.

In 2025, there are approximately 450 monks in Phukhang, including 100 Geshes (degree often equivalent to a PhD). Phukhang Khangtsen is blessed with the presence of His Eminence Zong Rinpoche, Khari Rinpoche, Khensur Lati Rinpoche , Khensur Jampa Yeshi, Khensur Kunchok Tsering, Khensur Dakpa Tenzin, Khensur Jangchup Choeden.
